Vanier College's Women Soccer Team win the CCAA National Title

Montreal, November 16, 2021. Vanier College is pleased to announce that its Women's D1 Soccer Team defeated the Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy 3-0 in the gold medal match on November 13, 2021 and captured the program's first CCAA national championship title.

The Cheetahs scored their first goal of the game in the 16th minute from Laurie-Anne Moise to a streaking, Latifah Abdu, who beat Saint-Foy keeper Charline Boutin one-on-one and nailed it into the goal.

Less than 20 minutes later, a long ball from Vanier's Sofia Beerworth into the Dynamiques area connected with Abdu, who flicked to a completely unmarked Moise for a beautiful goal to double the Cheetah's lead.

With the Lady Cheetahs up by two goals, Ste-Foy began to press in the second half, needing to get on the board to save their championship hopes but Vanier's quick attack led to another goal in the 74th
minute. Asma Merzougui's quick strike from beyond the 18-yard box left Boutin no chance of making a save.

The Vanier Cheetahs cruised from there to earn the program's first CCAA national championship - the seventh consecutive title for the RSEQ conference. The 4imprint Player of the Match were Shelbie Rae from Vanier.

Stats and Awards: Laurie-Anne Moise finished with a goal and three assists in three matches for Vanier and was named the championship's most valuable player. Teammates Malie Allard, Bianca Stevens Cardins, Aristilde Alma, and Gabrielle Cote were named to the all-tournament team.
