John McMahon Named The New Director General of Vanier College

Saint-Laurent June 15th 2016– The Board of Directors of Vanier College is pleased to announce that John McMahon has been named the new Director General of Vanier College.  Mr. McMahon has more than 30 years of experience in the educational milieu and is a former Academic Dean at Vanier.

“I am very excited about the opportunity of leading an institution such as Vanier College and look forward to contributing to the success of the college and facilitating the achievement of the goals articulated in the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan,” said Mr. McMahon.

Since 2010, Mr. McMahon has been the Senior Vice President, Academic and Student Success at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.  From 2006-2010 Mr. McMahon served as the Academic Dean at Vanier College.  He also served as Director of Centennial College (Montreal) and Principal of Jannimmarik School in Kuujjuaq.   Prior to assuming senior administrative positions, Mr. McMahon taught at both the high school and college level and also worked as an academic and student counselor in various locations including the Canadian Arctic, the Bahamas, Quebec and Ontario.

“It is truly a great honour for me to have the opportunity to return to Vanier.  There are so many special things about the College including the outstanding faculty and staff, the diversity of its students and its beautiful green campus.  I intend to bring inclusive, collaborative and strategic leadership to the position of Director General. I am also looking forward to working with the entire Vanier community so that together we can address all the challenges the college is facing for the coming years,” said Mr. McMahon.

Mr. McMahon will officially start his new functions at Vanier College on September 1st 2016.
