John Abbott College Foundation Recognizes Students

Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec - June 27, 2017 – Following the tradition of lending support to the students of John Abbott College, the Foundation presented bursaries and scholarships totalling $57, 995 at the Annual Awards Ceremony held June 8.

This ceremony is an opportunity for student recipients to meet those responsible for the financial gifts, in person, putting a face to the name.

The Foundation also provided over $29,000 to the JAC Student Assistance Fund and helped maintain the on-campus food bank, both established to help students stay in school despite their circumstances.

Student projects and activities got a $4,500 boost from the Foundation as well.

In all, the Foundation touched the lives of 235 students in this past academic year. Foundation funds are provided by private donors, businesses, community organizations, College employees, former students and certainly via crucial fundraising activities. One such activity, the annual golf tournament held June 5 at Beaconsfield Golf Club raised close to $60,000.
John Halpin, Director General of the College stated, “… [Community] support allows us to continue to offer a multitude of needed services to our students.”
