John McMahon unanimously endorsed as Director General of Vanier College for another three years

Montreal, May 20, 2021. On May 18, 2021 the Board of Directors of Vanier College unanimously renewed the mandate of John McMahon as Director General of Vanier College for another three years. A college-wide consultation and review by the Mandate Renewal Committee highlighted the inclusive, collaborative and strategic leadership that Mr. McMahon has brought to the position of Director General and acknowledged his contributions in shaping the College's important contributions in the wider community.

Since assuming the role in 2016, Mr. McMahon has helped guide the institution through half a decade of significant strategic growth, numerous challenges and opportunities, and the expansion of programs and services for students, both domestic and international. Mr. McMahon has more than 40 years of experience in the educational milieu in various locations including the Canadian Arctic, Ontario and the Bahamas. He was also a former Academic Dean at Vanier.

Through his active involvement in several external committees representing either Vanier College or the Anglophone Colleges and CEGEPs, Mr. McMahon is able to share his experience as a community builder, directly influencing the broader college system across the province. These committees include the English College Steering Committee ECSC (as Co-Chair), the Consortium of English Colleges and Universities (as Co- Chair), the Leadership Committee English Education of Quebec LCEEQ and many others.

The Vanier Board of Directors is confident that the College will continue to thrive under McMahon's leadership.
