Champlain Regional College - PUBLICATION OF THE OFFICIAL LETTERS PATENT

Sherbrooke, Québec September 4, 2019

Dear Colleagues and Partners,

We are pleased to announce that the new Letters Patent for Champlain Regional College have been officially adopted by Cabinet (le Conseil des ministres). This marks a significant historical milestone in the existence of the College and has been made possible thanks to the tremendous efforts of many including our Board of Governors, campus communities, and the Ministry of Education. Effective today, the official publication of the Letters Patent may be found in the Official Gazette of Québec.

The Letters Patent affirm that Champlain Regional College will henceforth be situated under Chapter 2 of the Colleges Act whereby the institution shall be legally recognized as a regional college with three constituent colleges. This more closely reflects the reality of the College as a multi-regional institution with the three constituent colleges responsible for their respective pedagogical and administrative activities. Significantly, the move into Chapter 2 provisions for an expanded governance role for the communities served by each of the College’s constituent colleges.

With a current student population of over 5000 students Champlain Regional College was founded in 1971 as an English-language CÉGEP and serves communities in the Eastern Townships, Montérégie and the Québec City regions.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to and supported this significant accomplishment.

Please join us in celebrating this momentous occasion.
