Launch Box Demo Day Where Students Unveil Ideas to Make Vanier College Better

Montreal, May 16, 2018. On May 31st, 2018, Vanier students will unveil their ideas and projects to improve the college and life in the community, during Launch Box Demo Day.

The Launch Box initiative was announced in January and offered students the opportunity to pitch ideas about innovation on campus or join existing projects. Participating students are eligible for cash prizes  of up to $2,500 and may even see their ideas come to life thanks to funding from the government of Quebec that made $50,000 available to Vanier for student projects this year.

Projects fall into three categories:
• Making Vanier better
• Improving the local community
• Adding value or solving a problem for a particular industry or discipline.

In all, fifteen students from various programs such as Architectural Technology, Environmental and Wildlife Management, and Science took up the challenge and grouped together to form teams to design projects, which they will present on May 31. While many projects are for the improvement of Vanier, the ideas are also transferable to other locations.

Presentations take place in F-500, on the top floor of the library, from 5 to 7 pm, on Thursday May 31, 2018. Open to the public but space is limited so reservations are necessary: http://bit.ly/launchbox-demo-may-31
